Privacy Policy

LiveTranslate (“we”, “us”) is a meeting transcription and translation app for macOS and iOS. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
The short version
- On-device mode is fully private. Audio, transcripts, translations, summaries, and voice profiles are processed and stored only on your device. Nothing is uploaded. No analytics, no telemetry, no third-party trackers. (On-device mode runs on Mac; on iPhone at launch, transcription uses Cloud mode below.)
- Cloud mode is opt-in and paid. Only if you use it, the audio you choose is sent to our processing service to be transcribed and translated, then results are returned to you.
Data processed on your device
- Microphone / system audio you record, to produce live captions and saved recordings - stored in the app’s container on your device.
- Calendar events (only if you grant access), used solely to name a recording after an overlapping meeting. This never leaves your device.
- App preferences (engine choices, target language) in local storage.
We do not collect, transmit, or sell any of this in on-device mode.
Data processed in Cloud mode (opt-in, paid)
If you use Cloud mode, for each session you start:
- The session audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our proxy and to our transcription sub-processor (AssemblyAI) and language sub-processor (Cloudflare Workers AI and/or Anthropic) to produce transcripts, translations, and summaries.
- A subscription identifier verifies your entitlement and meters usage. We do not use it to track you across apps or services.
- Audio and transcripts are processed transiently, are not retained by us after your result is returned, and are not used to train models.
Cloud mode is never used without your action, and the on-device experience (Mac) remains fully functional without it.
Sub-processors (Cloud mode only)
- AssemblyAI - speech-to-text + diarization (United States).
- Cloudflare - proxy + Workers AI inference (global edge network).
- Anthropic - summary/translation model, when enabled (United States).
- Apple - In-App Purchase / subscription processing.
Your rights
- Access / export: export any meeting (transcript, summary, audio) from the app at any time.
- Deletion: delete any meeting from your device at any time. Settings → Engines → Data & Privacy also offers “Delete all recordings & transcripts” and, when cloud is used, “Delete cloud account & data”.
- EU/EEA/UK users: you have GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection. Contact us at the email below.
Children
LiveTranslate is not directed at children under 13.
Recording consent
You are responsible for complying with the recording-consent laws of your jurisdiction. Some regions require all parties to a conversation to consent to being recorded. The app shows a notice before you record.
Changes
We will update this policy as the app evolves and post the revised date above.
